Every year, Arizona Project WET (APW) gets a new team of Water Educators and every year they have to say goodbye as each AmeriCorps member finishes their term. During his last week working with APW, Maricopa Water Educator Brad Gray was asked to share his experience.

  1. What has been your overall experience with APW? Knowing that knowledge about where our water comes from and how to conserve it was passed on to so many people these last few months really gives me a fond experience with the program.
  2. What have you gained/enjoyed from your AmeriCorps term with APW? I’ve gained a greater appreciation of how much the program and communities put into ensuring that the water festivals are experienced by so many kids. It’s been very impressive to see high school students getting involved in teaching the youth of their communities.
  3. How has your experience with APW impacted your prospects as a professional? I hope that future employers see my commitment to conserving water for future generations as a passion of mine.
  4. Do you have any particularly fond memories from your time with us? The whole experience will be fond memories. I got to work with a group of great people.
  5. Any parting words? “The Earth will not continue to offer its harvest, except with faithful stewardship. We cannot say we love the land and then take steps to destroy it for use by future generations.”—John Paul II

Brad and the many other AmeriCorps members that serve with APW are at the core of what APW does. By making a direct impact on students’ lives, they themselves are inspired to become better water stewards. APW would like to sincerely thank Water Educators Brad, Erin, Juliana, Seliah, Elias, Monica, Mia, Alexia, and Ruth for their service during the 2022-23 school year and to wish them the very best in their future endeavors.
