Incorporating Climate Change Uncertainties into Water Planning
The Water Utility Climate Alliance (WUCA) developed this white paper to present multipleoutcome planning techniques to water utilities interested in incorporating climate change into their planning. Integrating climate change information into planning is one of the most intricate steps utilities face in the climate change adaptation process. To adapt to climate change, water utilities generally must complete four major steps: 1) Understand - understand climate science and climate model projections, 2) Assess - assess water system vulnerabilities to potential climate changes, 3) Plan - incorporate climate change into water utility planning, and 4) Implement - implement adaptation strategies.
