The City of Lancaster (City) desires to have landscape development in an attractive, water efficient, and high quality manner. These landscape and irrigation design standards will enable designers and developers to clearly understand the City's intent with respect to landscape design and management. It is the intent of these landscape and irrigation design standards not only to establish an acceptable level of quality for approval, but to achieve harmony with, and bring continuity to, the existing developed areas in the City. To permit and encourage a pleasing aesthetic interaction with the environment, a landscape design should provide a variety of shapes, textures, and colors as well as provide practical applications such as trees to produce shade and block high winds.
