Rodney B Lewis Scholarship Supports Tribal Students’ Water Studies
Applications for the Rodney Blaine Lewis Scholars Award are being accepted through April 2, 2025. Rodney “Rod” Blaine Lewis (1940–2018) was a pioneer whose achievements in Indian Law established the groundwork for recognizing Native communities’ water rights. The scholarship’s establishment was announced at the WRRC 2021 Annual Conference: Tribal Water Resilience in a Changing Environment. This cash award of $1,762 supports one student each year from an Arizona Indian Tribe. Applicants must be enrolled in academic programs in water law, policy, or a closely related field. Award preference will be given to full-time graduate students who are members of the Gila River Indian Community, Tohono O’odham Nation, Salt River Pima-Maricopa Indian Community, or Ak-Chin Indian Community. This scholarship is only open to University of Arizona students.
