Nov. 5: Dr. Jean McLain to Present Study on Antibiotic Resistance in the Environment at Tampa Conference

Dr. Jean McLain, Associate Director of the University of Arizona Water Resources Research Center (WRRC) will present her recent research findings at the annual meetings of the American Society of Agronomy, the Crop Science Society of America and the Soil Science Society International on Nov. 5 in Tampa, Fla. The theme of the 2013 Tampa conferences is “Water, Food, Energy and Innovation for a Sustainable World.”
Dr. McLain will give a presentation titled “Antibiotic Resistance in the Environment: A Call to Action,” which will include research information on resistance levels to 16 antibiotics in bacteria found in riparian soils from wetlands recharged with wastewater for more than 30 years.
