Beat the heat and join us on June 28th for the next Water Roots event, organized with Sky Island Alliance and hosted by Public Brewhouse (209 N Hoff Ave, Tucson, AZ 85705).

Music and art have the power to both inspire and mirror - to motivate action and to show where we have traveled. This Water Roots presentation will be a fun evening of music and water combined. Musical elements that illustrate how traditional tunes and songs provide insights on the human relationship with water and land. On the flip side, learn about how our community investments and exploring new scientific horizons have changed our understanding and management of water.

Tucson-area water history and University of Arizona water innovations woven together with musical entertainment gives us a chance to see how the arts and science perspectives combine and complement. How will these fit together in one presentation? We will leave that up to Claire Zucker and Dave Firestine, who are the duo, Púca, as well as being members of two other bands, Púca and the Wild Ones and STEAM. Songs and tunes from Ireland and Appalachia, played on mandolin, bouzouki, bodhrán, concertina, and with a bit of clogging too.

Claire Zucker, Associate Director at the University of Arizona Water Resources Research center has working in the Tucson Region as a watershed planner, program administrator, and environmental advocate since 1992.  She has served on boards of directors for Tucson Audubon Society, Southern Arizona Buffelgrass Coordination Center, Sky Island Alliance, and Tucson Friends of Traditional Music among others.

Dave Firestine is a self-certified gyzmologist who spent 33 years chasing lightning while working at Vaisala Inc., and is now a vagrant musician, teaching and playing music across the country.
