Local Strategies for Sustainable Management in the Prescott AMA
The University of Arizona Water Resources Research Center (WRRC), in partnership with Yavapai County Cooperative Extension, The Nature Conservancy, and APS, is pleased to host an in-person event featuring partners from the Prescott AMA. With presentations from the City of Prescott, Town of Prescott Valley, Town of Chino Valley, and Yavapai County, this event highlights innovative management approaches to stormwater, wastewater, effluent reuse, and recharge, focusing on collaboration for regional water solutions. Discover how local governments are working towards a sustainable water future through diverse supply management, water augmentation projects, and watershed protection. We warmly invite the public to engage in this conversation and learn more about collective efforts to address water challenges in the Prescott AMA.
UNIVERSITY OF ARIZONA WATER RESOURCES RESEARCH CENTER
Dr. Sharon B. Megdal is the Director of the Water Resources Research Center at the University of Arizona. She will provide an overview of state regulations and policies that influence water resources in the Prescott AMA.
THE NATURE CONSERVANCY
Kim Schonek is the Verde River Project Manager for the Nature Conservancy. She will be providing local context to water challenges in the Prescott AMA and surrounding areas.
UNIVERSITY OF ARIZONA WATER RESOURCES RESEARCH CENTER
Taylor Simmons is a Graduate Outreach Assistant at the Water Resources Research Center. She will provide an overview of the Arizona Water Factsheet Initiative, highlighting the Yavapai County Water Factsheet.
CITY OF PRESCOTT
Leslie Graser is the Water Resources Project Manager for the City of Prescott. She will provide an overview of water management strategies for the city’s various supply types, while also looking toward future supply opportunities.
YAVAPAI COUNTY
Becca Sirakis is a Senior Planner with Yavapai County. She will share how Yavapai County’s Comprehensive Plan protects the quantity and quality of available water within the watershed.
TOWN OF CHINO VALLEY
Mark Holmes is Water Advisor to the Town of Chino Valley. His presentation will outline the need for unified water organization to address regional water challenges and sustainability goals in the Prescott AMA.
TOWN OF PRESCOTT VALLEY
Tracy Lund is a Water Resources Advisor for the Town of Prescott Valley. Her presentation will focus on current and developing water projects in Prescott Valley that aim to augment water resources.
